This study aims to develop a self-report inventory to measure University students’ perception of their creative thinking skills. Creative thinking is a critical learning outcome in higher education and one of the essential 21st Century Competency. The data were collected from 253 students of a university in Hong Kong. A structural equation model was applied to confirm the construct validity of the instrument. The result shows that the key characteristics of creative thinking skills are empirically constructed by creative character, originality, sensitivity, synthesizing and resistance to premature closure. The five characteristics of creative thinking can be considered as learning processes or outcomes to inform the design of instructional events and learning activities to nurture students’ creative thinking skills. Students with Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Difficulties (SEBD) pose a major challenge to inclusive education. A positive teacher-student (t-s) relationship has been confirmed a vital factor in the development of students with SEBD. In Hong Kong, students with SEBD may study in mainstream schools, or special schools with residential service, while in Thailand, parents can only choose mainstream schools (either public or private) for their children with SEBD. A qualitative study was conducted in two Hong Kong special schools (one primary and one secondary) and one private school (with both primary and secondary schools) in Thailand to explore teachers’ perceptions of the t-s relationship among students with SEBD. The three schools offer residential services. Information was collected mainly from individual interviews with 21 teachers from these three schools. Themes emerging from the analysis reflect that the cultural concerns about the difference between‘relationship’ and ‘guanxi’ require further elaboration and discussion. 隨著信息技術的不斷發展，通過自媒體上的教學視頻進行語言學習已經成為一種新的學習方式。本文以國際中文教育為例，對新時期信息技術環境下的自媒體二語教學視頻進行研究。研究問題共有四個： 自媒體二語教學視頻有怎樣的特點？ 自媒體二語教學視頻的優點和不足是什麼？自媒體二語教學視頻如何輔助傳統形式的課堂教學？ 自媒體二語教學視頻如何在內容與製作上更有規範、更有系統化的發展？在研究方法上， 以定性研究為主，定量研究為輔，具體採用問卷調查、訪談法和非參與式課堂觀察法來收集數據。根據數據的分析和討論，得出了最終的結論，回應了研究問題，並進一步提出了自媒體二語教學視頻的教學框架、模型和概念。本文的研究意義是希望幫助自媒體二語教學視頻更好的發展與傳播，成為數字化信息技術時代下主要的網路學習方式和途徑； 幫助拓展網路教與學的空間； 幫助學校的教師更好的使用自媒體二語教學視頻來輔助課堂教學，提高教學效率和教學質量；幫助國際中文教育事業等第二語言教育事業方面的發展和推廣； 幫助發展個性化學習和終身學習，並進一步做到知識共享。All rights reserved.

In today's digital environment, gamification has become a satisfactory method for promoting certain behaviours and enhancing motivation and engagement. Though it is most often used in marketing tactics, it is increasingly being used in education, assisting instructors in attaining their goals while also responding to changing student requirements. In recent years, gamification, as an innovative teaching method, has also attracted much attention in China. With the further promotion of educational reforms, teachers are the change agents of reforms, and their cognition, attitude, and behavior determine the effectiveness of educational reforms. To know more about teachers’ intention to use gamification, the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) was used for testing what factors affect their intention. For testing the TPB model, this study took the teachers of schools in Huizhou as a sample. This research collected data through a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews for analysis and discussion. By collecting 152 questionnaires from primary and secondary school teachers and in-depth interviews with 22 teachers, this study confirmed that attitudes toward using gamification, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control affect teachers’ intention of using gamification for teaching through the mediator commitment. This finding provides a more comprehensive model and perspective to understand teachers’ use of gamification. Moreover, it gives a reference for related research on the implementation of gamification among teachers in second and even third-tier cities. All rights reserved.

This chapter examines how a transnational network of European sanitary, medical and educational experts helped define the contour of architectural reform and hygiene curriculum in Hong Kong from 1901 to 1941. Travelling back and forth between Hong Kong and the wider British imperial world, these colonial experts brought new approaches to public health that subsequently shaped practices in Hong Kong schools. As architectural reform, hygiene education and medical inspection were most rigorously carried out in the state-sponsored English schools (English-medium) that educated a multiracial but predominantly Chinese middle-class cohort, this strand of schools became the prime site where sanitary innovations and hygiene curriculum materialised. Just as imperial preoccupation with youth health drew the spaces of the classroom, dormitory, and school playground into the discourse of hygiene to create a new typology of school architecture, it simultaneously stratified a class structure in Chinese society. School health, in turn, functioned as an important means to enact new class and gender dynamics in Hong Kong in the early 20th century, entwining with the rise of Chinese bourgeoisies and female professionals, as well as eugenic thought that reframed the health of Hong Kong youth as directly connected with the future of the British empire. Copyright © 2024 selection and editorial matter, Kellie Burns and Helen Proctor; individual chapters, the contributors.

Improving primary students' reading comprehension is one of the most significant objectives shared by all language educators. Recent studies have highlighted the uniquely important role of executive function (EF) in underpinning reading comprehension, both directly and indirectly through other reading-related skills. Reading engagement, which may require active management from readers, has been widely acknowledged as a crucial contributor to reading comprehension. Therefore, it has been claimed that EF can facilitate reading engagement and, in turn, benefit reading comprehension. However, the relationships between EF, reading engagement, and reading comprehension have not been fully explored yet. In the present study, 225 primary Grades 3 and 5 students in Hong Kong were invited to complete a battery of tasks, including EF tasks, reading engagement questionnaire, and reading comprehension task. The findings suggested that EF exerted indirect effects on reading comprehension through reading engagement, beyond its direct effect. Furthermore, when comparing the hypothesized model between students from the two grades – the effect size of each path in Grade 5 was found to be higher than in Grade 3. Additionally, the indirect effect of EF on reading comprehension via reading engagement was only found to be significant in Grade 5.
