- The thesis is on a study that investigated the listening comprehension strategy use of university level Chinese English as a Second Language (ESL) students. The effects of achievement, gender, self-ratings of learning ability, and topic familiarity on strategy use were examined by the author; the target group was 20 students who enrolled in various full-time undergraduate courses in Hong Kong.
