- 個案探討的是有關於香港神託會培敦中學,在初中進行人文學科課程專題研習的情況。 為了能整全地理解實施初中人文學科課程專題研習的背景脈絡,這個案必從課程改革脈絡內的兩大主軸,即課程統整和校本課程發展的趨勢中作出探究,以便理出頭緒。現代課程不斷提倡跨學科的統整,課程發展議會《學會學習:終身學習、全人發展 -― 課程發展路向 》 報告書中強調由科目框框轉變為「整合性的學習」,並提出八個學習領域代替傳統的學科。香港神託會培敦中學以專題研習作為人文學科統整的主軸。此種透過初中人文學科專題研習作為課程統整和校本課程發展的經驗,值得其他面對類似校本課程發展挑戰的學校參考。
