香港敎育大學作為香港主要師訓機構之一，從2012年開始，要求主修中文教學的同學在離校前，必須取得普通話水準測試二乙成績，才能畢業。以廣州話為母語的學生要能順利通過考試，他必須通過學習普通話、進而習得這目的語，才能順利過關。學生如果能有系統地學習廣普之間的對比，將有助他掌握目的語的發音，讓他們順利達標，通通考試。

大學教育無疑是追求學術卓越，綜合大學的中文主修學習當然朝著學術專精方向發展。筆者任教香港教育學院開辦的“中國語文教育榮譽學士”課程的“現代漢語”科目多年在學院確立“超越教育”的新發展方向中，不斷反思師資培育課程的中文主修學習的定位問題。本論文通過“中國語文教育榮譽學士”課程的“現代漢語”科目教學和學習成果分析，探討師資培育課程中學科學習的意義。

近年，香港學生自殺個案不斷，情況引起社會大眾關注。然而，無論我們如何努力地發展生命教育，此危機也是無可避免。為了響應學校需要，香港教育學院宗教教育與心靈教育中心重新規劃相關活動，聯合預防自殺的慈善機構「生命熱線」，引入戲劇活動，共同推行預防學生情緒困擾與自殺先導計劃。本文旨在整理當中的計劃經驗，探討教師教育在相關課題上的挑戰，並分析引入戲劇活動計劃的經驗以及並重要性，讓中港兩地的教育工作者借鏡，共同預防悲劇發生。

This paper is discussing about the role of schoolteachers in the initial teacher education of the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd). The first section is a general overview to the curriculum structure of the teacher training programme of the institution and the second section is the information on the proportion of the academics and schoolteachers involved in teaching to the Education programmes across the curriculum. The final section is focused on some analyses and explanations for the student teachers’ view on the role of schoolteachers in the teacher education curriculum, which provide insights to lead to the review of the curriculum and teacher education in Hong Kong.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the practice of teaching of beginning secondary school physical education teachers. The problems and the factors that confronted the teachers in their first year of work were examined. Thirteen physical education graduates of the Hong Kong Institute of Education in 2005 teaching in secondary schools were purposely invited to participate in the study. Qualitative data were collected by a combination of techniques: passive participant observation, formal and informal interviews, document analysis, and journal writing. Constant comparison and analytic induction were used to organize and categorize the data. Data generated helped to understand the confrontations faced and the influence of the workplace factors on the practices of beginning teachers. Results indicated that the teachers adjusted their practices according to their school contextual conditions during their first year of teaching. The common practices of teaching were a) instructional approach, b) lesson preparation, c) contents, and d) classroom management. The workplace impact was mainly come from their students, administrators, and work responsibilities. The participants also employed socializing strategies in order to survive in schools. Findings of the study hold implications for the development and preparation of physical education teachers with respect to the influence of organizational socialization.

The understanding of oneself has become an important area of study in the school curriculum. This is usually done through the guidance curriculum to enhance children’s self-understanding, empathy, and relationships with others. This is a worldwide trend in a comprehensive school guidance system (Gysbers & Henderson, 2000; Luk-Fong, 2005). This chapter documents students’ active learning about their own selves, as well as the selves of their future students, in a “Self-Personal Identities Module” in a teaching preparation institute in Hong Kong. The learning and understanding of oneself can best be done with other people in a group (in this paper, in a class) in a safe and inviting culture/environment. Grounded in the core values of respect, trust, optimism, intentionality, and care of invitational education, which was founded on democratic values, the perceptual tradition, and self-concept theory, this chapter demonstrates how educators can create an inviting learning culture and environment in a higher education setting to help student teachers to study their own personal identities and learn how to study the identities of their future students. Implications for student teachers’ learning in other higher education settings are discussed.
