本文透過對香港中學商業教育的歷史回顧及課程發展的探討，分析商業教育在不同社會經濟發展階段所起之質性變化，及其正負面影響，並建議未來之發展方向。歷史回顧部分分作三個階段，包括二十世紀五六十年代的萌芽發展期，七十至九十年代的穩步增長期及二千年後的高速更新期；當中課程的演變經歷 “職業”、“技術”、“科技”及“專科與職業分家”等不同方向的發展，各有優勝及不足之處，但只要取得發展上的平衡，商業教育在職業預備上、智能發展上及公民教育上的全面性功能可以有所發揮，令經濟急速發展下的每一名學子均可受惠。

本文探討中學體育課程全面單元化的適切性；包括單元課程的內涵、優點和不足。優點方面，包括提高課程的延續性和內容涵蓋面，與及在社會問責方面的承擔。不足的地方，在於它只是課程組織的一個方法，因此對解決課程組織以外的問題幫助不大。

Inquiry learning (IL) is one of the most prominent features of the New Senior Secondary Curriculum reform and has become a major approach in the teaching and learning of many subjects. However, it remains open to what teachers’ perception of IL is and what extent IL is actually used in day-to- day teaching. In the study presented here we elaborate— from the perspective of social science teachers—the current status of IL in day-to-day teaching and the difficulties they encountered in implementing IL, based on the analysis of relevant data collected from a survey, interviews, classroom observations and documents. Further, in order to gain insights on multiple factors that influence teachers’ perception and implementation of IL, a comparative study between two case schools was conducted. We present selected results from this comparative study that for the first time provides general ideas of senior secondary social science teachers’ perceptions and current use of IL, as well as how school context, curriculum and measurement, the support from students and parents affect teachers’ perceptions and implementation of IL in the context of Hong Kong.

Most of the educational reading material primary-aged students read at school tends to fall within the informational text genre. Informational text has schematic or organizational characteristics that readers need to be access. Ability to understand informational texts (Duke, 2009) has been shown to support students with fictional text comprehension (Soalt, 2005) leading to higher reading achievement (Kletzien & Dreher, 2004). Three quasi-experimental studies investigating reading comprehension test score gains of first and second language (L1 and L2 respectively) English international primary school students (Years 2 and 6) in Hong Kong were conducted. Students were randomly assigned to one of two teaching interventions; one focused on teaching informational text schema and the other on English vocabulary building. Reading comprehension gains were measured using the Assessment Tools for Teaching and Learning (asTTle) program and researcher-designed cloze fiction and nonfiction tests. Meta-analysis of the multiple measures and treatments found greater comprehension and cloze performance due to the teaching of informational texts compared to vocabulary training; though this was more pronounced for students with English as L1.

香港學校中文科採用粵語還是普通話為教學媒介語，一直以來似乎各師各法，而社會上 的有關討論亦仍然持續。當成人的議論沸沸揚揚之際，本文將從小學生的角度出發，探究不同媒介語對學生學習中文的影響。參考 Oxford (1990)的研究，作者編製成「中文科學習策略量表」，以問卷調查了小學四年級的一個「普教中」班和一個「粵教中」班，從而瞭解不同媒介語在學生學習中文的記憶策略、認知策略及補償策略等方面影響的異同。

新世紀開始，香港不少中小學校都響應語文課程的改革，逐步改用普通話教中文。中文 科的教學語言轉為普通話後，漢語拼音便成為小學生語文學習的重要入門工具，也成為教師必須處理的課題。本文以 3 名小學“普教中”教師的課堂為研究對象，通過觀察他們教授漢語拼音及運用拼音支持語文教學的情況，以檢視現階段第一線語文教師掌握的拼音教學策略。

本研究旨在探討香港中國語文準教師在中文閱讀課堂是怎樣給予學生口頭回饋和探討他們給予學生回饋時做得不足的地方。研究對象是二十位修讀香港教育學院小學榮譽教育學士的準教師，研究者分析他們的教學錄像，並邀請六位準教師作訪談。研究發現大多數準教師給予學生直接回饋，較少運用間接回饋。準教師未能善用學生的回應，也欠缺多元化的追問。本研究會提出建議，希望藉此提升準教師給予學生口頭回饋的效能。
