- 作者認為要在學校中有效地推行道德教育，需要探求存在的道德問題，及確認學生德性發展所處的階段。作者指出，一般來說，道德發展的各層面的問題包括：道德判斷、價值觀、決策推理、自我形象等。作者並對探求道德問題提出幾種方法：觀察法、會面交談法、使用工具測量、自我反省及進行投射測度等，此外，作者亦對各種方法加以論述, 並舉出各學者的論說作引證。
