- A collection of 12 discussion essays written by students from English-medium schools and Chinese-medium schools was analyzed by the author based on the assessment of Laufer and Nation's Lexical Frequency Profile and teacher-raters' rank order. The author discovered that the repeated occurrence of the high frequency words indicated that the lexical richness of Hong Kong students was not high in general.
