- Argumentative essays written by 25 F.6 students in an Anglo-Chinese school in Tsing Yi were studied by the author. "Good" writers were found to use more connectives; however, a higher frequency of "overuse" appeared in their essays. The "poor" writers often misused connectives. Students rarely used conceptually difficult connectives, such as contrast and contradiction.
