- The author reports that 52 college-aged Chinese students in Hong Kong participated in the study of the effect of context cue instruction. He finds that the instruction using Clarke and Nation's Guessing Strategy improved the ability of the intermediate English as Foreign Language students to infer word meanings from context and that, applying the entire, not partial, procedure of the Strategy assisted more.
