Hong Kong's education has to keep pace with the changing world to meet the needs of the society. Amore flexible mode of education that can transcend mere memorization and the confines of the classroom will be more conducive in nurturing among students lifelong learning aiming at self enhancement. This article focuses on cognitive and affective dimensions of students' development and explores the real experiences of two secondary schools in promoting students' enhancement. It is hoped that the examples covered in the article can illustrate that Hong Kong's education is making steady progress in the direction of liberating itself from the narrow confines of tradition.[Copyright of Hong Kong Teachers' Centre Journal is the property of Hong Kong Teachers' Centre at http://www.edb.org.hk/hktc]
