- 客家人向以崇文興教見稱。20世紀初,巴色差會客籍傳遞人彭樂三、張和彬、淩善元等在香港粉嶺龍山地段(舊稱龍躍頭) 舊松雷堂村建崇謙堂村,並聯合村民于1913年辦學,命名為"谷詒書室",以客家話教學。1942年建"從謙學校",接受香港政府津貼, 是香港新界區首問津貼小學。學校多次擴建,曾有24班,約1000名學生。到90年代末,香港由於出生率下降,適齡學童大減,"從謙學校"在2004年接到香港教統局的"殺校令",在2007 年8 月底停辦。通過對"從謙學校" 的辦學歷史的敘述,可清晰地瞭解客家人辦學的觀念,以及香港社會發展的轉變歷程。[Copyright © 2011 贛南師範學院學報編輯部.]
