教育統籌委員會第七號報告書為推動「優質學校教育」提出了不少的建議，包括確立質素保證架構，透過校本管理加強學校各主要成員的合作，以及推行學校自我評估來保證各校本身的質素。為了支援本港小學更好的發展校本評估機制，香港初等教育研究學會於2001-2002 年得到地區教師專業交流計劃的支持，與教育署合辦一個小學校本評估支援計劃，為了更好地推廣及利用上述的成果，香港初等教育研究學會又得到地區教師專業交流計劃的支持，於2002 年10 月至2003 年9 月推行「小學學校自我評估的行動研究與分享」計劃。是項計劃一共接納了九間學校參與，此論文將分享其中的實踐經驗及就學校自我評估提出一些推行建議。
The Education Commission Report No. 7 suggests focus on ways to improve school management and performance towards the provision of quality school education to better meet the needs of pupils. Internal quality assurance should be achieved through school-based management, participation of parents and teachers, and self-evaluation by schools. The Hong Kong Primary Education Research Association carries out a plan: Support Scheme for School-based Evaluation of Primary school to assist primary schools to develop their own school-based evaluation plans in 2001.Then the HKPERA gain another project: Sharing and Action research on School Selfevaluation in Primary School which is funded by District Teacher Network. This article aims to share the experience within nine participating schools and suggest ways for the implementing of self-evaluation in schools.

根據七號報告書的建議，教育署於成立了質素保證視學組後，標誌了香港學校教育的評估踏進一個新階段。九七以前，香港政府並沒有建立一個機制去評估公辦學校的表現。就學校教育的評估，本港學者鄭燕祥曾指出教育質素指標就是描述學校層面或系統層面的輸入、過程及產出主要方面的質素指標。但除了關注中央性指標外，亦有國際學者注視校本評估的重要性。故此，教育署亦鼓勵各學校進行校本自我評估，質素保證組於零零年發出一份學校自我評估資料冊，期大力推動本港學校的校本評估。而這篇文章的重心則在回顧校本評估的發展，引用一間曾受評鑑的學校同工的回應，探討香港學校校本評估的前景。
In order to pursue quality education in school, the Education Department set up the quality assurance framework for school education in 1997. This framework aims to achieve the due balance between providing support to school through school improvement and exerting pressure through accountability within this framework. External review on the performance of school is taken up by the Quality Assurance Inspection teams from Education Department and each school should carry out her self-evaluation. As part of school-based management, each school is engaged in on-going review of her strengths and weaknesses. This paper aims to discuss the development of school-based evaluation in Hong Kong by reviewing of related government policy papers and a case of an evaluated school.

有關香港大學教育學制的爭議，從五十年代討論中大的成立時已曾發生；自中大於六三年成立後，香港兩間大學是各有其年制和自行收生的，形成了中學教育的雙軌制。七十年代中大反對四改三運動亦是一個學制爭議；及後港府以合併預科考試為題，在教統會第三號報告書中，統一了中學學制，要求各大專院校採用劃一的取錄程式，間接地促使了香港高等教育全面走向英式專才。回歸後，特區政府提出全面檢討教育制度，其中關鍵點是大學學制；為此教統會提出一體化的三年高中教育，這將使香港大學學制邁向六四制，與國際主流學制接軌。此文重點是以歷史角度剖析上個世紀以來香港學制的四次爭議。
There are four debates on the duration of undergraduate programme in Hong Kong at last century. Since the Chinese University of Hong Kong is established in 1963, the two universities have their own system in admission and duration of undergraduate programme. The Hong Kong University with three-year undergraduate programme serves pupils from Anglo-Chinese School and admits them according their results in the Advance Level Examination. While the CUHK admits pupils from Chinese Middle School with Higher Level Examination results. However, Education Commission in ECR3 on 1986 suggests combining the two matriculations. After reunion, the Chief Executive of HKSAR government entrust the EC to conduct a comprehensive review of the education system. Later the EC suggest providing a new three-year senior secondary education. It seems there may be another change to be happen in the duration of undergraduate programme in Hong Kong. No matter how, it is worthy for people to have a historical review on this issue.

促進學習的評估是近年香港教育界熱門的專業術語之一。評估能促進學生學習，過程中教師要善用評估學生表現的資料，設計出相應的桝與學的措施。為了瞭解這理念在香港小學施行的情況，本文採用個案研究法，與一所小學數學科科主任作深入訪談，透過解構和整理這些質性資料，勾劃出這所學校近年來在數學科實踐評估促進學習的經驗，並指出其成功原因及需考慮的發展方向。
"Assessment for learning" is a professional term and familiar with the educators in Hong Kong recently. Assessment improve students' learning. Teachers analyse the results of students' performance to design relevant teaching activities and materials. This paper aims to illustrate the practice of this concept in the mathematics subject of a primary school in Hong Kong. The case research method is used and the subject panel of this school has been interviewed deeply. By synthesis the qualitative data of the case, the implementation of the assessment for learning of the mathematics subject in this school is outlined. Meanwhile the main reason of the success of this assessment reform is pointed out and suggestion for further development is enclosed.

在上個世紀，香港在職教師培訓有五星期覆修和十六星期的語文教師在職進修課程，除了這些系統培訓外，各校也會舉辦一些校本教師講座及由民間教育團體舉辦新教師入職課程。回顧香港在職教師在過去十年的發展，政府首先對在職教師的學歷資格及專業發展日益重視；及後在課程改革的環境下，不少學校近年以共同備課和同儕觀課來促進教師專業的提高。近年，教育當局又大力推動教學啟導培訓和在職教師專業交流活動；同時，又有專業團體為在職教師提供較重實踐性的培訓課程。從這些不同的教師在職培訓項目的特色，可見香港在職教師專業培訓在過往十年有長足的發展。
In last century, there are three types of professional development of in-service teachers in Hong Kong. The most systemic type is the five-week refreshment training programme and sixteen-week language teacher enhancement programme, while some professional organizations run on induction programme for new teachers in every summer and many schools run school-based seminar for their teachers. In last decade, government pays more attention in the qualification and professional development of in-service teachers in the beginning. Later in the context of curriculum reform, many schools upgrade teacher professional performance by co-planning and peer-observation. Recently, EDB implement mentorship courses to support new teachers and promote professional exchange activities for inservice teachers. Meanwhile, Some professional organizations provide training programme which have more focus on action learning for teachers. This paper describes the situation of professional development of in-service teachers in last decade and discusses the special features of these in-service teacher training programmes.

香港新高中課程改革的「通識教育科」，注重「專題研習」的學習。由於有別於本土的傳統教學，「專題研習」可供老師參考的課程實施經驗不多，尤其學生對自主學習的體會。本文嘗試從學習者的角度，透視「專題研習」在實際的學校環境中，出現怎麼樣的「通識教育科」教學和學習的特點。透過分析小組同學的訪談內容，我們發現學生能夠了解和適應「專題研習」的學習要求及肯定其中的學習經歷和價值，他們同時深感憂慮新的學習，嚴重受考試導向的教育現實所牽引。
Liberal Studies has given a due weight to project learning in Hong Kong's New Senior Secondary curriculum reform. Different from mainstream teaching in the past, teachers have little practical experience on project learning in their curriculum implementation, particularly on students' independent learning. This paper is an attempt which examines for characteristics of project learning in Liberal Studies in the local school context from students' perspectives. An analysis on the focused group interview with students has found that they can grasp the main points and cope with the new learning needs of project learning. While they recognize the values of this new learning mode, they are deeply worried that the examination-driven educational reality has greatly affected their study through project learning.
