- 作者首先提出對教師對美術評估與否,各有不同意見。在現今教育體系裏,教師水平參差,因而無法在教學目標、設計和評估中取得共識。加上教學時間不足,對評估的意識尚輕,故要對學生美術表現作有效評估似乎遙遙無期。但香港課程發展議會編訂的「小一至小六美勞科課程綱要」卻強調評估對教學質素和改善學習很有幫助。於是作者就其所觀察到一般美術評估方式的不足之處,並提出補救建議。例如老師多以主觀態度批評學生作品,因而可能厄殺具創造力和個人風格的表現。作者建議發展以學生為主動的自我評估態度;作者亦建議增強在美術詞彙上的認知,鼓勵觀察,鼓勵主動學習,使學生更能參與評估,加深對藝術的興趣。
