- In recent years, much research has been conducted on environmental citizenship, particularly on indicators for environmental citizenship. Recent findings suggested that one of the effective ways of cultivating environmental citizenship is through formal education in schools. This paper describes the “Green School” initiative, the theoretical background and its implementation in Hong Kong. The development of the criteria for a “Green School” will also be described in this paper.
