- 作者首先描述中國、台灣和香港三地的美術教育的簡況，繼而為60年代、70年代至80年代、以及90年代的二個時期的情況作出剖釋和列表說明各時代的美術發展。此外，作者把會社及組織、學院及課程、活動及刊物主導的有關人士作簡要報導。作者繼而提出中小學偏重繪畫技巧訓練而忽略全面的知識的問題，並對教材的貧乏、課堂教學的效果、教學取向的未能更新，深表關注。至於學習的評估、知識和技能的教授、判斷力的建立、師資的培訓等、作者亦作出中肯的交待，是故此文可提供頗為全面的研究香港美術教育發展的資料。
