- 文章指出，為確立美術教育在發展優質學校教育的重要性，香港美術教育協會向學校質素和學校經費專責小組提出意見。這些意見反映：第一，香港教育過於偏重知識的傳授，導致青少年缺乏思考和創造力，對文化認識亦不足夠；第二，美術教育在整體教育中可以發揮多方面功能，包括思考方面的訓練、審美及欣賞態度的培養、創意及擴散性思維的發展、價值觀和社會文化意識的培養等；第三，要達致優質教育，均衡發展學生各方面的潛能十分重要；和第四，學校、校長、家長等都要有明確的方針和要作出適當的決策來配合才能有效地施行，達到優質教育的效果。
