- 作者指出，數學、數學史、數學教師都包含「數學」這個詞匯，它們之間顯然有極密切的關係。這裡的「數學」指對數學的探，包括學習數學知識、瞭解數學新動態、討論數學問題、以至進行數學研究；「數學史」指對數學發展的認識和學習；「數學教師」自然指課堂上的數學教學了。作者先討論「才」、「學」、「識」的關係，然後以此為著眼點，看看「數學」、「數學史」、「數學教師」之間的密切關係。
