- 作者指出，香港的讀書風氣不盛，因為家長和學生都不願意花錢買課外書。有些父母以為多看課外書，可以提高學習成績，這只是狹窄的視覺。好的兒童讀物最重要的元素是兒童趣味，文字是否合乎規範是重要的，但不是最重要。具有兒童趣味的作品，孩子自然喜愛閱讀，這樣的作品可以引發兒童的想像力和創造力，社會的發展需要這樣的人才；所以在寫作時，教師要誘導學生的想像力，讓學生體會到寫作的趣味。（關之英整理）
