此論文是有關建立初中中國語文科教材信息庫系列的其中一項研究，主要目的是進行建立中港台初中中學語文教科書教材信息庫的比較研究。研究者是希望能提供科學的數據，從而支持語文教科書日後的編選與改革。作者指出，教材信息庫由三個子庫系統組成，包括教材信息、漢字信息、詞匯信息；初步研究發現識字量、識詞量、成語學習量等，人教版的設計較港台的為高。（黃潔貞整理）

作者從課程教材教法等角度分析過去、現在及將來中學中國語文教學的情況。作者指出，在課程方面，對於學科性質、教學目標的認識正日趨全面，但綱要結構不周全，作為建議也不合理；而教材方面則有待建構能力訓練的編選體系；教法方面則仍很傳統，應從能力訓練出發。作者認為，以上都是由於教研的工作做得不足，因而影響教香港改的進度。（何文勝整理）
