Abstract:
此文是響應聯合國頒布1990年為掃盲年而進行的一項全球合作研究計畫的報告。作者指出，結果顯示香港小學四年級及中學三年級學生的閱讀水平都在國際平均水平之上，但距離成績最好的國家地區還是很遠。而香港社會對中英文閱讀水平的期望，超過學生達到的水平。（關之英整理）
